Brave Inca, ridden by Tony McCoy, put in a gutsy performance to win the AIG Champion Hurdle at Leopardstown.

The 6-5 favourite fought out a tremendous finish with last year’s winner Mac’s Joy, ridden by Barry Geraghty.

Brave Inca, trained by Colm Murphy is now likely to be the favourite for the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham in March.

Murphy said: ” He was very good today and had to dig really deep. He’s had a hard race, but keeps coming out of them so well this season.”

” He will have a break now and then it will be all systems go for Cheltenham.”
