England Roll On

England had to come from behind to secure a hard fought 31-16 victory over a stubborn Italy in their Six Nations match in Rome.

Italy began brightly and it was 25 minutes before England really got into the game when Mike Tindall burst through the Italian defence to score.

But a penalty and two drop goals from Pez either side of half-time briefly gave Italy an unexpected lead.

Charlie Hodgeson and Mark Cueto scored tries to re-establish England’s advantage and James Simpson-Daniel sealed the win after Mirco Bergomasco had touched down for the Italians.

England coach Andy Robinson said: “We always knew how tough it would be. They should have beaten Ireland last week.”

“We made hard work of it initially but our second-half display was superb. We upped the pace and got quicker ball.”

“We scored some very good tries - the try from Mark Cueto was superb as was the score by Mike Tindall.”
