Early Exit For Murry
British number one Andy Murry lost 7-5 3-6 6-4 to Switzerland’s Stanislas Wawrinka to crash out of the first round of the NASDAQ-100 Open in Miami.
The 18-year-old Scot broke Wawrinka twice in the first set but lost his own serve three times.
After taking the second set, he fought back from 4-1 down in the final set to level the scores but was broken again and the Swiss served out for the match.
Fellow Britons Tim Henman and Greg Rusedski play on Thursday.
Henman takes on Marat Safin, with Lleyton Hewitt waiting in round two, while Rusedski plays Mikhail Youzhny.
Henman faces a tough task to halt his slide down the rankings after being handed a difficult draw at the Masters Series event.
And the 31-year-old, who has dropped to 56 in the latest world rankings, risks missing out on a place in the main draw at the Spring Masters Series events in Rome and Monte Carlo.
Having reached the quarter-finals in Miami last year he must reach the same stage, at least, to avoid a further drop in the rankings.
