Uttoxeter Abandoned

Racing has been abandoned at Uttoxeter, but goes ahead at Lingfield Park, Kempton and over the jumps at Fontwell.

At Kempton the prestigious Masaka Stakes at 1445 looks a cracking contest and could easily go to Rajeem , who rounded off last season winning her last two starts.

She has been entered in some classy races, which suggests she is well thought of and will be hard to beat.

Just seven colts line up for the Easter Stakes at 1555 but the race throws up the best bet of the day.

Asset , trained by Richard Hannon, only had the three starts last season and looks unexposed.

Unlike some of his rivals, he does not have the benefit of match fitness on his side but Hannon’s horses are normally fit first time out.

The colt holds a 2,000 Guineas entry and to warrant that must win today and win well.

It is also standard on Lingfield’s polytrack where racing begins at 1355. The best race on their programme is the six-furlong handicap at 1535.

Qadar looked very impressive when scoring at this course over five furlongs nine days ago and looks capable of following up. The longer trip may suit him better.

Young Mick should get favourite-backers off to a good early start in the 1430.

It is Southern National day at Fontwell where, following 3mm of rain, the ground is now soft all round.

Racing starts at 1420 and the National goes off at 1455. Yes My Lord will start favourite following his impressive success at Leicester on very soft ground.

He is unexposed over fences and is a difficult horse to assess.

The value in the race is Precious Bane , who is very consistent. His two chief assets are his sound jumping and his ability to handle very heavy ground.

He is not the fastest thing on four legs but looks tailor-made for this marathon.
