Thursday’s Racing
Today’s racing comes from Goodwood, Ayr, Wetherby and Lingfield but the meeting at Salisbury has been abandoned because of water-logging.
The going at Goodwood is now soft, heavy in places after 22mm of rain in the last 24 hours.
Final Verse , who finished sixth behind George Washington in the 2000 Guineas, re-appears in the Heron Stakes at 3:15
There are just five runners for the other listed race on the card, the Achilles Stakes at 2:40, though that could be cut to four as The Lord was a winner at the track on Wednesday.
Fire Up The Band looks the pick of the David Nicholls runners, with Milton Bradley’s Corridor Creeper as the main danger.
The going at Ayr has improved to good to soft, soft in places.
Kieron Fallon is an eye-catching booking for the unraced Kay Gee Be in the opener at 2:20 and the Michael Jarvis-trained Deutschland is fancied to lose his maiden tag in the 2:50
The afternoon jumps card at Wetherby goes ahead after an early morning inspection. The going is heavy and that should suit Finzi in a three-runner handicap chase at 2:30
The going for the evening meeting at Lingfield is standard and John Gosden’s Fen Game should be suited by the drop back to a mile and a half in the opening race at 6:05
