Wednesday’s Racing
There is racing today at Brighton, Great Yarmouth and Cartmel. This evening’s meetings are from Beverley and Southwell.
There was 6mm of rain at Great Yarmouth on Tuesday evening and the ground has changed to good with good to firm places.
Racing starts at 1:40 and they have a good handicap at 3:55
David Barron has his string in sparkling form and he can take the most valuable race on the card with Dispol Kate , who is an eye-catching mount for champion jockey Jamie Spencer.
Brighton’s seven-race programme gets under way at 2:00 and the ground is good.
Best bet of the day is Ten Cents in the 3:45. Chris Wall’s filly does not know how to run a bad race and has not been out of the first four in her last five attempts.
She handles this unique track very well and, in jockey George Baker, has someone who rides this difficult course well.
The only National Hunt meeting comes from Cartmel, where the ground is good with some good to soft places on the chase course.
The action starts at 2:20 and, in the opening race, Pauline Robson’s Merigo will be difficult to beat.
A winning point-to-pointer Merigo will not find an easier opportunity to get off the mark under rules.
Southwell’s evening all-weather card starts at 6:20 and the fibresand is standard.
Jamie Osborne’s Ten Dollars More should open is account in the maiden at 7:20
It is Beverley’s big night of the year with the listed Hilary Needler Stakes at 7:10
The race has attracted a quality field of 12 with three fillies coming into the race unbeaten.
Fly Time finished second on her racecourse debut at Thirsk and will have improved for the experience.
Horses coming from a high numbered stall have an advantage so stall eleven is ideal for Fly Time. Racing starts at 6:40
